![]() Prior to Figma's release, I had used Adobe XD on a large scale project for a major brand at the start of the pandemic, and the mandate for the tool was that the VP of Design had chose Adobe XD on the basis of their own speculation – that if there was ever a long term bet on which design software would win out, it would be Adobe. Even though I have my hang ups on XD and prefer Figma/Sketch I do appreciate it’s ability to Prototype and the Stacks & Padding features have saved me time.Ĭontext for my experience with Adobe XD (2020) I myself have learned to use other apps over the years like Sketch, Balsamiq and such. It’s been left to the community to address some of the shortcomings of XD.Īt work we have been primarily using XD for our digital projects but more and more of our clients are requesting us to work in Figma. In comparison the XD’s Devs are barely responsive, user requests for the basic features like Find/Change has never ever been addressed and Dev team seems to be an offshore team which adds more red tape to process of updates. If I’m comparing the development teams for both apps, the DEV team for Figma is very responsive to user requests and is pretty innovative. So my educated guess is that Figma will be the longterm app going further. Adobe had GoLive and Macromedia had Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver was the better product and Illustrator won out against Freehand. Adobe has a history of doing this when they purchased Macromedia years ago. Honestly in a year or two there will be no argument it’s going to one or the other since Adobe bought Figma. ![]()
